Canadian Golf Magazine has just released their 2017 list of the Top 50 + Next 10 golf courses in Canada, and eight beautiful top British Columbia golf courses made it into the Top 50! The first BC course to make the list is once again the private Capilano Golf & Country Club in West Vancouver, coming in at number 7. Hot on their heels are Tobiano in Kamloops, coming in at number 12 overall, a fantastic Canada-wide ranking which also puts it in the number 1 position for public courses in BC. Next on the list in the number 15 spot is private course Victoria Golf Club on Vancouver Island, closely followed by Predator Ridge - Ridge Course, which gets the number 19 spot overall, and number 2 position for public BC courses. The final four BC courses on the Top 50 in Canada list are as follows:
- Sagebrush - #23; public; Quilchena, BC (Although it must be noted that Sagebrush closed in 2014 and has not re-opened yet, but watch this space.)
- Shaughnessy - #25; private; Vancouver, BC
- Royal Colwood - #26; private; Victoria, BC
- Greywolf - #28; public; Panorama, BC
As you can see, the courses on this list include both private and public courses, presenting golfers with the very best of all golfing to be had in British Columbia. The rating panel is made up of 62 golfers including "amateur and professional golfers, industry and non-industry professionals, varying handicaps and a balanced male/female ratio". Raters use the following criteria when ranking courses: Routing, Greens & Surrounds, Quality of Par-3s, Quality of Par-4s, Quality of Par-5s, Conditioning, and Overall Impression.
